Origin: Ngorrhal (mountain passes, glacial valleys)
The Ngorrhal Passreed is a tall, frost-resistant plant native to Ngorrhal’s mountain passes and glacial valleys, characterized by its slender, hollow stalks and feathery, frost-catching fronds. A resilient species, it thrives in extreme cold, anchoring loose soils and providing cover for small fauna in high-altitude ecosystems. Its presence indicates stable, frost-bound environments capable of supporting specialized flora and fauna.
Ngorrhal Passreeds live 10–20 years, reaching maturity at 3–5 years and producing wind-dispersed seeds during calm, cold seasons.
Documented during the Era of Absolute Expansion (~3,000 years before modern Geba), Ngorrhal Passreeds were noted in the Comprehensive Field Codex for their role in stabilizing Ngorrhal’s fragile, frost-bound ecosystems. Their hollow stalks and frost-catching fronds make them essential for ecological balance and practical use in high-altitude survival. They remain extant, integral to Ngorrhal’s mountain ecosystems and Frost Sentinel culture.
