Shadefan (Umbra lamina)

Alias: None
Origin: Inland Thazvaar (hardpan)

The Shadefan is a flat, paddle-shaped succulent native to the dry, compact hardpan deserts of Inland Thazvaar. Its broad surface casts localized shade, cooling the soil beneath and creating microhabitats that support small desert fauna. Its structure also makes it a favored resource for nomadic shelter-building.

Lifespan

Lives 25–40 years. Matures at 5–7 years. Produces seeds post-storm.

Uses

Notes

Documented in the Era of Absolute Expansion (~3,000 years before modern Geba), Shadefans support Thazvaar’s desert ecosystems. Extant and practical.
