Tidelash (Mareflagellum berinu)

Alias: None
Origin: Berinu (tidal zones)

The Tidelash is a whip-like algae anchored in Berinu’s tidal zones. It moves violently with the pull of the tide, lashing outward to entangle small marine fauna, which decompose or feed larger aquatic life. Its presence helps sustain coastal food chains while adding to the hazards of Berinu’s shifting shores.

Lifespan

Lives 5–10 years. Matures at 1–2 years. Produces spores in tidal seasons.

Uses

Notes

Documented in the Era of Absolute Expansion (~3,000 years before modern Geba), Tidelashes remain a functional and symbolic component of Berinu’s tidal ecosystems. Extant and useful.
