Saethera Lanternheart (Luminaria cordis)

The Saethera Lanternheart is a bioluminescent shrub found in Saethera’s warmlight forests and moonlit groves. It is best known for its softly glowing, heart-shaped leaves that emit light under low-light conditions. The glow attracts nocturnal pollinators and enhances biodiversity in humid forest zones. Its glow also makes it valuable to local communities for ritual lighting and pathfinding at night.

Terrain

Thrives under dense canopies in Saethera’s moist forests and shaded groves. Grows in fertile, nutrient-rich soils. Not found in arid, open, or volcanic biomes.

Lifespan

8–15 years. Matures in 1–3 years. Reproduction occurs during humid periods via glowing seed clusters.

Height

0.5–1.2 meters when mature. Juveniles under 1 year measure 0.2–0.5 meters in height.

Uses

• Ecological Role: Attracts night-dwelling pollinators and supports nighttime seed dispersal networks in forest ecosystems.

Notes

First documented during the Era of Absolute Expansion (~3,000 years before modern Geba) in the Comprehensive Field Codex. Still abundant and actively used in Saetheran forest regions, it remains one of the most recognizable and culturally meaningful plants in low-light ecosystems across Geba.
