Origin: Inland Thazvaar (hardpan)
The Shadefan is a flat, paddle-shaped succulent native to the dry, compact hardpan deserts of Inland Thazvaar. Its broad surface casts localized shade, cooling the soil beneath and creating microhabitats that support small desert fauna. Its structure also makes it a favored resource for nomadic shelter-building.
Hardpan deserts, rooted in dry, compact soils. Absent in humid or forested biomes.
Lives 25–40 years. Matures at 5–7 years. Produces seeds post-storm.
Reaches 0.5–1 meter in height, with a spread of 1–2 meters. Juveniles range from 0.2–0.6 meters.
Documented in the Era of Absolute Expansion (~3,000 years before modern Geba), Shadefans support Thazvaar’s desert ecosystems. Extant and practical.
