Trenchribbon (Abyssoribbon geba)

Alias: None
Origin: Geban Sea (trenches)

The Trenchribbon is a ribbon-like algae that drifts through the dark trenches of the Geban Sea. Measuring several meters in length yet only a fraction of a meter wide, it filters nutrients carried by deep currents and provides a foundation for trench food webs. Its elusive presence is one of the defining features of Geba’s abyssal ecosystems.

Terrain

Deep trenches, suspended in cold waters. Absent in shallow or inland biomes.

Lifespan

Lives 8–12 years. Matures at 1–2 years. Produces spores dispersed by trench currents.

Size

Reaches 5–10 meters in length and 0.1–0.2 meters in width. Juveniles grow 1–3 meters long.

Uses

Notes

Documented in the Era of Absolute Expansion (~3,000 years before modern Geba), Trenchribbons are vital to Geban Sea trench ecosystems. Extant and elusive.
